God's Definition of Success

Define success… (Click to enlarge)When Linda Washington first heard of Andrew Wommack Ministries, she was living the American dream. As a well-educated, middle-class American, she had a good job, a loving family, and money in the bank. Her life fit into every definition of success she’d ever heard—even from her church. But Linda felt something was missing.

After years of hard work, Linda developed an enrichment package for young children and began the arduous process of marketing it to schools, hospitals, and bookstores. Finally, a nationally recognized educational publisher picked it up. “By that time, I was happy to let it go!” Linda recalled. “But I wondered, Is this it, Lord? Is there more for me?

What does true success look like? God's definition is often different from ours (Click to enlarge)Then one day, in Raleigh, North Carolina, Linda heard an outrageous promise listening to Christian television: “A man named Andrew Wommack was giving away free teaching material. I couldn’t believe it—no preacher ever gave out free material. So, even though I could pay for the product, I called to see if what I’d heard was real.” Two days later, a package was in Linda’s mailbox, and Andrew had gained a new ministry partner.

As Linda’s family began listening to Andrew’s teachings, the Bible began making sense. “I never understood how God could go from a God of wrath in the Old Testament to a God of love in the New Testament. But as I listened to Andrew, his teaching The True Nature of God really connected the Bible for me.” Soon the Washington family was attending Andrew’s conferences on the East Coast and thinking about coming to Bible school.

“I completed Charis’s first-year program at River of Life in Raleigh before moving to Colorado Springs,” Linda says. After completing second year, Linda realized what had been missing from her earlier success. “I worked in child development and education for years,” she shares. “One of our buzzwords was teaching the ‘whole child.’ But the world’s definition of ‘whole child’ excluded the spirit. At Charis, I learned that was the most important part. Children cannot fulfill God’s purpose for them or find success without knowing who they are in the spirit.”

Linda Washington with her 2011 graduating class (Click to enlarge)Deciding to return to Charis for third year’s Business School, Linda felt God nudging her to write again. “I knew I was still called to children, but I wanted to teach to the true ‘whole child.’” Working with her development team, Linda created a business proposal for a new children’s curriculum that would focus on foundational principles in the Word without ignoring or misrepresenting the Holy Spirit.

Now, after years of development and testing, the Foundation Curriculum is ready! Launching December 1 on her website (in two different languages), Foundation Curriculum connects the Bible for children—just like Andrew connected it for Linda. Incorporating concepts of Spirit, Soul & Body, the Believer's Authority, and The True Nature of God, Foundation Curriculum includes teacher-parent resources and student activities for every lesson.

“I’m amazed at how God brought this all together,” Linda admits. “I think I’ve worked harder on this project than any other, but I’m so excited! This is God’s project. He birthed it in me, and He has brought it to completion—just like He promised. I’ve found my success; it’s in being a living sacrifice like Romans 12:1-2 says.”

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. [2] And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

This curriculum is a great idea. It's so important for children to have a strong foundation in their faith. This will help them grow strong roots so that they will be able to weather storms that come their way as they grow older. I personally suffered from not having a strong foundation in healing. A few years ago I was very sick and had a lot of pain that lasted 24/7. I wished my church had taught me about divine healing when I was a child. Andrew's teachings really helped to pull me through. Praise God that he is a healer! This curriculum will help children all over the world win spiritual battles in their lives.

I am from Uganda. For the last 3 years, I have come to love Andrew Wommack Ministries. I love his calm, simple but firm and non - dramatic nature and style in delivering the Word of God. He is my best television teacher. Thank You Lord for blessing the world through Andrew Wommack.
