Andrew's Response to the Florida School Shooting

Again, we are mourning the loss of innocent lives as the result of a violent school shooting. I join with you in praying for all those injured and those who have lost sons and daughters. I pray that the Lord would comfort and draw them to Himself for the strength only He can give. He is our only hope.

I’ve heard total despair from a number of people today as to how we solve this problem. They feel that this is the new norm that we just have to get used to. I don’t believe this is so. I didn’t grow up with this as the norm, and the young people of today don’t have to either.

Although there isn’t a quick fix and many things need to be done, I believe the root of the problem is simple. There is evil in this world that our nation has systematically been releasing by our departure from morality and the fear of God. Disrespect for God, authority, and life in general is being promoted in multiple ways, and this is the consequence.

Psalm 36:1 says, “The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes.”

The lack of fear or reverence for God has removed the restraints on the devil, and this is the result. The answer to this isn’t easy, but it’s simple: we need to return to God as a nation. That’s where we believers come in. We must speak out and let our light and salt be the preserving influence God ordained.

As we pray for those affected, let’s also renew our commitment to sharing the good news of the Gospel, which is the only thing that will change the hearts of people and stop this carnage. Most will look for things in the natural that need to be done, and while we don’t deny the natural, the only cure for this is spiritual, not physical.

Father, use us to counter this evil in our culture. Give us boldness to speak out and get involved. Give us Your wisdom about how to address this, and we pray Your comfort and strength to everyone affected. In Jesus’s name, amen!

Thank you for saying this. We all need to be doing our part to bring our nation back to God.

You are stating this obvious here. Of course, it would help if people had a change of heart and would kill others. That's like saying if people wouldn't jump off buildings, we would have less suicide. I say let's not only pray, but get active! Faith without works is dead. Call your congressman, get on board and let's get an immediate ban on automatic "style" weapons of any sort, excluding hunting guns that are automatic weapons. Just praying and pontificating about the hearts of men is not going do what needs to be in the physical and in the NOW. If you are just offering more Thoughts and Prayers, you are lazy and really don't care.

Amen Andrew!

I response to Keith Rutledge post I'd like to point to Andrew's prayer, "Father, use us to counter this evil in our culture. Give us boldness to speak out and get involved. Give us Your wisdom about how to address this, and we pray Your comfort and strength to everyone affected. In Jesus’s name, amen!"

This is not a passive prayer, it's a prayer for action and a prayer for wisdom. Banning semi-automatic guns will not stop evil and those who want to steal, kill and destroy. We have a job to do to fight this evil in whatever way we can. Rise up church of God! Rise up!

Unfortunately, most people will only say the prayer and will not become active against gun violence. Making a statement that banning semi-automatic weapons will not stop evil and so on, is like stating that speed limits will not stop speeders. As a believer, I understand the process for wanting peace in the world. If the thought of future kids being murdered by killers with guns does not cause you to take action, then I believe you are contributing to the next atrocious act of violence. Prayers may give us a "sense" of peace but action is needed. Do you think that God expects us to sit back in our comfortable homes and watch this violence continue?

Action is necessary. We must not be silent. yet violence and killing will continue. If not by guns, perhaps by homemade bombs, highjacked airplanes, fertilizer bombs, renegade vehicles or whatever can be found in the heart of evil. How do you combat evil? Let us use everything at our disposal to combat this evil. Prayer is not just about gaining a sense of peace but it's communicating with the One who can and will lead us in this fight against evil.

When do we as individuals and as a nation STOP trying to solve our PROBLEMS by Superficial means? If you HONESTLY believe that more "Gun Laws" is the answer then youre SORRILY mistaken. The ONLY ones the "Laws" keep in-check are the "LAW ABIDING" citizen..NOT the criminal NOT the psychopath or Sociopath etc.. They will ALWAYS find a way to carry out their agenda. As Timothy McVey showed..having never fired a single shot yet killed hundreds. As the 9/11 hi-jackers showed..Again NEVER firing a shot yet killing hundreds. These are just two of the high profile cases of many. What NEEDS to be done is to find out 'WHY' these particular our youth feel as tho this is the way to solve their problems. The bottom line is..we live in a MORALLY and SPIRITUALLY bankrupt society that has become SOOO lost that they are nothing more than the REAL LIFE version of the Walking Dead... A Human Drudge- line.
So UNTIL we start getting back to 'THE WORD OF GOD' ALL of your "LAWS" will do Very little to Nothing to remedy our current state of CHAOS / EVIL in todays society. As an example Did 'Prohibition" stop the sale or consumption of Alcohol? NOT even close..
You have to CHANGE their HEARTS which in turn CHANGES their THINKING thus their ACTIONS. And if one believes doing Nothing more than contacting ones Congressman / Reprsentative is taking "ACTION" then you are mistaken...Its gonna take FAR more than phone calls etc. because it is NOT a gun is a HEART issue!! So THAT is what NEEDS to be delt with.
This coming from a Major Sinner who rejected Christ for most of their life then came to Christ only to walk away on a few occasions. But IM back !! So this is NOT coming from someone who one might try and say is out of touch or is or living in a Fantasy. And by the way.. I dont even own a gun.
Blessing To You All
