Europe 2009 Trip Overview

Our recent news coverage has been focused on Andrew and Jamie's autumn trip to Europe, during which they visited England, Germany, Poland and Hungary. Several AWM staff members also traveled with Andrew and Jamie, including the ministry's Media Operations Manager and television department head, Stephen Bransford. Stephen documented much of the journey through Europe via video camera. Using Stephen's script and raw footage, Michael Coward, also of AWM's TV department, produced the following documentary-style overview sharing ministry highlights of Andrew's travels. We're pleased to be able to share this television department production with you.

Andrew's Books Translated in 35 Languages

As AWM shares the truth of the Gospel with the body of Christ the ministry’s influence continues to grow. One of the indications of this growth can be found in the consistent request for Andrew’s books to be translated into foreign languages. During their European trip this fall, Andrew and Jamie became more aware of the ministry’s far-reaching growth.

While in Hungary, Andrew visited the location that serves as the ministry’s local AWM office. The humble house, reminiscent of the ministry’s stateside beginnings in Manitou Springs, Colorado, also doubles as AWM’s European book distribution center. The site contains tens of thousands of Andrew’s books. The office and distribution center operate under the oversight of native Hungarian and CBC England graduate, Zsolt Katona. Andrew was pleasantly surprised to find that his books have been translated into 36 languages.

Andrew had this to say about the increasing call for and reception of new translations,

“It’s just amazing what’s happening. As a matter of fact, while we were there, there was another language they’d found that they were translating. And so, tremendous things are happening.”

Andrew’s books have been translated in 11 languages in Europe alone: In addition to English, 12 of his books have been translated in Hungarian, 11 in Dutch, 11 in German, 11 in Czech, nine in Russian, seven in French, five in Italian and five in Polish, the majority of which are available in print through the distribution center. Several other language translations have been completed and await publication including three in Romanian, two in Albanian and two in Swedish. A number of other translations are currently in progress in Finnish, Latvian, Bulgarian, Portuguese, Slovakian and Danish.

“I felt like this trip to Europe was unique and there was a feeling everywhere we went that the ministry has a life of its own. The message is changing so many lives in so many ways, it’s growing underneath our feet. We’re being lifted up literally, by a tide that’s bigger than any of us,” said Stephen Bransford, AWM’s Media Operations Manager.

The ministry is also growing across foreign soil outside the UK. Sixteen nations outside Europe are experiencing the increased desire for translated materials as well. Numerous books have been published in Thai, Burmese, Cambodian, Vietnamese, Chinese, Tibetan, Afrikaans, Zulu, Pakistani, Indonesian, Tamil, Burundi, Ghanaian, Filipino, Tanzanian and in Indian dialects.

In addition to the languages listed above, three of Andrew's books have been translated in Spanish and released in the US.
